After facilitating special vaccination sessions for the physically challenged citizens in the twin-city, the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) has now geared up to take-up the responsibility of helping senior citizens housed in various old-age homes to get inoculated.
“On Monday (14, June) special sessions have been planned in various slots at five old age homes including three in Uttan and two located in Mira Road. As per availability, all necessary steps are being taken to ensure that such vulnerable segments are also covered for the vaccination process at the earliest.” said municipal commissioner-Dilip Dhole.
The session sites will also facilitate ‘near to home’ vaccination centers for patients,bed-ridden and senior citizens aged above 60 years. Apart from 245 physically challenged, around 120 people including students and employees going abroad to study or work were vaccinated in the special sessions that were held in the west and east sides of Bhayandar respectively on Sunday.
As per official statistics, so far MBMC’s health department has administered a total of 2,57,564 doses of vaccines which includes-1,95,968 first dose and 61,596 second dose. Vaccination has been scheduled at 16 centers including special sessions at five at old age homes on Monday.
