Mira-Bhayandar Crime: Head Constable Attacked With Knife By 2 Men While Breaking Up Brawl; Accused Arrested

According to the police, the head constable identified as Kashinath Bhanuse was on-patrol duty with his colleague Govind Musle when they learnt about a brawl going on between two groups near Poddar School located in the Shiv Sena lane area of Bhayandar (west) at around 6 pm.

Mira Bhayandar: The festival of Holi (Rang-Panchmi) was marred with a violent incident after a head constable attached to the Bhayandar police station was brutally assaulted with a knife while mediating a fight between two groups on Friday evening.

About The Case

According to the police, the head constable identified as Kashinath Bhanuse was on-patrol duty with his colleague Govind Musle when they learnt about a brawl going on between two groups near Poddar School located in the Shiv Sena lane area of Bhayandar (west) at around 6 pm. Both immediately reached the spot and tried to break-up the fight. Irate over their mediation, the accused rained blows on Bhanuse before assaulting him with a knife inflicting deep wounds on his hand and stomach.

While both fled the spot, a profusely bleeding-Bhanuse was rushed to the civil hospital and was later shifted to Wockhardt Hospital in Mira Road where his condition is now said to be stable. Investigations revealed the identity of the assailants as Kamlesh Gupta alias Babu and Dilip Khadka. Both the accused who were allegedly in an inebriated state have been and booked under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita for assault to deter a public servant from discharge of duty, voluntarily causing grievous hurt to deter a public servant from his duty and attempt to murder.

Charges under the provisions of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951 were also invoked against the duo who have been remanded to custody. Further investigations were underway.
