Mira-Bhayandar: 3 Nigerian Nationals Arrested For Illegal Stay Using Forged Passports And Visas In Mira Road

A team comprising officials from the crime detection unit and the anti-terrorist squad attached to the Kashigaon police arrested three Nigerian nationals including a woman who were found to be staying illegally in Mira Road on the virtue of forged passports and visas.

Mira-Bhayandar: A team comprising officials from the crime detection unit and the anti-terrorist squad attached to the Kashigaon police arrested three Nigerian nationals including a woman who were found to be staying illegally in Mira Road on the virtue of forged passports and visas.

The arrests were made during a combing operation launched by the Kashigaon police to detect the presence of illegal foreign immigrants staying in the region. While checking documents of foreign immigrants, the teams led by senior police inspector-Mahesh Togarwad found three Nigerians staying in Gaurav Excellency building in the Hatkesh area of Mira Road on Saturday.

The trio who have been identified as- Obinwa Vincent, Vizor James Wisdom and Ayasina Miriam Taiye were found to be in possession of forged passports and visas which they were using to authenticate their stay in the country.

All were taken into custody and an offence under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for cheating, forgery of valuable security and relevant sections of the Foreigners Act, 1946 which deals with punishment (minimum of two years in prison, but up to eight years) for entering or staying in India without the required documents was registered at the Kashimira police station against the illegal foreign immigrants who were remanded to custody.

Police sub inspector-Sachin Shendge and Sunil Thakur are conducting further investigations to track the culprits who facilitated the accused in procuring the forged documents.
