Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A major fire erupted in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar on Thursday, April 10. The blaze broke out in a six-story building housing Hotel Grand Sarovar. Fire brigade teams were immediately deployed to the site to control the fire. Fortunately, early evacuation ensured there were no casualties and all guests were safely brought out of the premises in time.

The hotel is owned by Pradeep Jaiswal, a Member of Legislative Assembly from Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena faction, as per reports. The fire is suspected to have been triggered by a short circuit, though a detailed investigation is underway to confirm the exact cause. Visuals of the massive fire showing thick black smoke billowing from the building surfaced on the internet.

Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar Fire Department Chief, Sampat Bhagat, confirmed that the fire has now been fully brought under control. “Four individuals were trapped inside the hotel during the fire, but they were rescued safely by the fire personnel. The situation is under control, and the cause will be officially known after the investigation is completed,” he added.

Massive Fire In Gwalior Triggers Cylinder Blasts

Another massive fire broke out in the early hours of Thursday in Gwalior’s Khassgi Bazaar area. Around 3 am, flames erupted in the basement of the Kalaan Gopal Multi building, where an illegal thread-manufacturing unit was reportedly in operation. The factory contained highly flammable materials, which caused the fire to spread rapidly across five apartments located on the second and third floors of the building.

The fire escalated after triggering three gas cylinder blasts, which made it even harder to contain. Given the seriousness of the situation, the Indian Air Force had to step in with its fire brigade to support local firefighting efforts. After nearly five hours of intense firefighting, the blaze was brought under control by around 8 am, although some embers continued to smolder even after the main fire was extinguished.

A video capturing the blaze went viral on social media. While the precise cause of the fire is still under investigation, preliminary findings point again to a short circuit as the likely spark. The illegal storage of flammable materials and the cylinder explosions further aggravated the situation, making it one of the most severe fire incidents in recent times.
