Mumbai : On the fifth day of Ganeshotsav this year, the city saw a total of 30, 575 idols being immersed at various lakes and ponds.
According to the data provided by Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM), a total of 1,290 Sarvajanik Ganpati idols were immersed. However, the number of household idols stood at 29,779 with 19 idols of Gauri. Of the 30,575 idols, a total of 5,157 idols of the elephant god were immersed in artificial lakes with 186 Sarvajanik idols, followed by 4,961 household idols. A total of 10 idols of Gauri were immersed in artificial lakes.
However, a total of 33,337 Ganesh idols were immersed on the sixth day of Ganeshotsav.
While 127 Sarvajanik mandals said the final good bye to their beloved god this year on the sixth day, total 29,376 household idols were immersed at various ponds and lakes in the city.
On the sixth day, there was a fall in the number of idols being immersed in artificial lakes as only 18 Sarvajanik idols were immersed followed by 3,619 household idols. A total of 534 Gauri idols were immersed in the artificial lakes created at various places in the city.
