Man kills brother over property dispute in Palghar, held

The police said there was a long-standing dispute betweenthe brothers over property.

A 53-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing his younger brother over a property dispute in Palghar district, police said on Friday.

The Gholwad police arrested Chindya Binder for killing his brother Ramesh, 51, on Thursday, an official from the district police control room said.

The police said there was a long-standing dispute betweenthe brothers over property.

The accused arrived at his brother's house and picked a quarrel with him, later attacking him with a sharp weapon and killing him on the spot.

The police rushed to the village after being informed about the killing and sent Ramesh's body to a government hospital for postmortem, he said.

An offence under section302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered in this regard, the official added.
