Mumbai : A three-and-a-half year old girl from Malad was allegedly sexually assaulted by a 33-year-old man, who has been arrested.
The incident occurred around a week ago, police said. The accused and the victim live in the same locality. The accused is a craftsman who makes imitation jewellery. He was working from home when the child entered his house, while playing a game. As the neighbours were away to collect water, taking advantage of the situation, the accused locked her up in his room and sexually assaulted her.
When the girl reached home, her parents found out about the incident and complained to the Dindoshi police. The accused was immediately arrested and kept in police custody for five days after which he has been remanded in judicial custody.
