Mumbai: A 36-year-old zari worker slit his wife’s throat outside their residence at Bharatiya Kamala Nagar in Wadala (E) on Saturday morning, following a domestic dispute and is currently absconding. Faizal Jaiswar reportedly fought with his wife Rita, following which he killed her and fled. Police teams, accompanied by sniffer dogs, have fanned out in the area to nab him. Faizal had been residing with Rita in a tin shack near Antop Hill for the last two years. Rita was his second wife. His first wife lived with their daughter in a slum near Diva.

On Saturday, around 11 am, a heated argument broke out between the couple and it soon turned into a brawl. Even as onlookers were watching, Faizal took out a kitchen knife and slit Rita’s throat. Before the locals could react, Faizal was gone. The locals immediately alerted the police and rushed Rita to the nearest hospital, where she was declared dead before admission. Police are looking for Faizal and have sent teams to railway stations and bus stands. A dog squad too was brought in to investigate.

“We have registered a case of murder against Faizal and are on the lookout for him. The moment we learnt about his first wife, a team was sent to Diva as well,” said Senior Inspector Rajendra Sangle, Wadala TT police station. Police are yet to recover the murder weapon and suspect Faizal may have thrown it away as he fled.
