Malegaon blast 2008: NIA tells Bombay HC out of 495, 256 witnesses examined so far

On Wednesday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) informed the Bombay High Court that out of total 495 witnesses, 256 witnesses have been examined till July 12.

The agency also said that it also intends to examine 218 more witnesses.

At least six people were killed and over 100 were injured on September 29, 2008, after an explosive device strapped on a motorcycle went off near a mosque in Malegaon town of Nashik, which is located over 200 kilometres from Mumbai.

The accused in the case are Lt Col Prasad Purohit, Lok Sabha MP Pragya Singh Thakur, Shudakar Diwedi, Major Ramesh Upadhyay (retired), Ajay Rahirkar, Sameer Kulkarni, and Sudhakar Chaturvedi.
