Maharashtra's Transport Minister, Pratap Sarnaik, is scheduled for a one-day visit to Gujarat on 17th February, where he will gather insights on the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation’s (GSRTC) initiatives. The visit will focus on exploring potential improvements and innovations in the functioning of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC).
During his visit, Minister Sarnaik and his delegation will inspect the GSRTC's regional transport management systems. They will also examine the incentive programs for employees, evaluating whether these programs could be adopted to enhance operations within the MSRTC. A key highlight of the visit will be a trip to the Pod Taxi Test and Experiment Center in Vadodara, Gujarat.
The delegation will study the Pod Taxi project, a cutting-edge initiative designed to explore alternative urban transportation. The Minister and his team will assess whether such a system could be implemented in cities like Mira-Bhayandar, which are grappling with increasing urbanization and traffic congestion.
Alongside Minister Sarnaik, the delegation includes Vivek Bhimnawar, Acting Vice President and Managing Director of MSRTC; Nitin Maid, General Manager of Transport; Nandkumar Kolarkar, General Manager of Engineering; and Dinesh Mahajan, General Manager of Construction.
Minister Sarnaik is also expected to meet with Gujarat’s Transport Minister, Harsh Sanghvi, during the trip. The two ministers will engage in discussions regarding collaborative transport services and potential improvements between the two states.
The study tour represents a significant step towards enhancing Maharashtra's transport infrastructure and introducing innovative solutions for its growing urban demands.
