Thane: Maharashtra Transport Minister and senior Shiv Sena leader Pratap Sarnaik was admitted to a private hospital in Thane after reportedly experiencing body aches and fever-like symptoms, family sources confirmed on Friday.

According to a PTI report citing sources, Sarnaik began feeling unwell earlier this week and was hospitalised on Wednesday night for further medical evaluation and treatment. He is currently undergoing care for the reported health issues, with doctors monitoring his condition.
While no official medical bulletin has been released yet, the family reportedly stated that the minister is receiving appropriate treatment and remains under observation. Further updates on his condition are awaited.

Minister and MSRTC Chairman, Pratap Sarnaik, recently unveiled a new initiative aimed at making religious tourism more accessible and affordable for underprivileged citizens. The plan, proposed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, is designed to provide low-cost spiritual tour packages that include transportation, accommodation, and meals.
The announcement came during a high-level meeting held at the MSRTC headquarters, where Sarnaik emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts between the government and private tour operators to democratise religious travel. The meeting was attended by MSRTC Vice Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Madhav Kusekar, senior officials, and private travel agency representatives.
“Sacred pilgrimages should not be a privilege of the wealthy. Through this PPP model, we aim to ensure that people from all sections of society can undertake spiritual journeys without financial stress,” Sarnaik stated. He highlighted the need to plan tours during off-season periods, particularly around public holidays when MSRTC typically witnesses reduced passenger traffic. This strategy, he said, would enhance MSRTC revenue while serving the public interest.
The proposed tours will include basic but essential amenities such as clean toilets and free lodging at selected pilgrimage centres. The model has already seen success in Pandharpur, where pilot tours received positive feedback for affordability and accessibility.
