Former Deputy Chief Minister and veteran NCP leader Ajit Pawar’s second COVID-19 report came positive. However, party sources said that Pawar will cast his vote in the Maharashtra Assembly Speaker’s election slated for July 3 by taking due care.
Similarly, another senior NCP leader and former minister Chhagan Bhujbal had tested COVID-19 positive and was under medical observation. He is also likely to come to Vidhan Bhavan on Sunday to cast his vote.
Both Pawar and Bhujbal were tested COVID-19 positive on June 27 amid the political crisis following the rebellion staged by Eknath Shinde and other legislators.
Shiv Sena has fielded Rajan Salvi supported by NCP and Congress against BJP candidate Rahul Narvekar backed by Shinde camp. The Shinde camp has claimed the support of 170 legislators while the Maha Vikas Aghadi partners have backing of about 120 legislators. Both factions of Shiv Sena have issued whip with a warning of disqualification in its breach.
