Mumbai: School Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse has proposed developing a mobile application to ensure no student misses health check-ups. As part of the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) or National Child Health Programme, the app will streamline assessments, ensuring timely medical care.
Additionally, a year-long calendar will be created in coordination with the School Education and Public Health Departments to systematically conduct student health check-ups.
The announcement was made during a meeting of officials to discuss the effective implementation of the programme in the presence of Public Health Minister Prakash Abitkar.
Bhuse emphasised the importance of informing students and parents in advance of the scheduled health check-ups and ensuring student attendance on the designated days. He stressed that beyond routine check-ups, students should receive medical attention whenever required, with follow-up treatments facilitated through RBSK.
To enhance the efficiency of this initiative, he instructed officials to study the health check-up applications developed in Nashik and Daman, with the objective of incorporating their best features into a state-wide app. This app would help track student health records, schedule check-ups, and ensure that no child is left out of the programme.
A senior official from the Education Department stated, "Ensuring the health and well-being of students is a top priority. The proposed app and structured health check-up calendar will provide a systematic approach to medical care, allowing timely intervention and better health outcomes for all students."
In addition to health check-ups, Bhuse called for a district-wise review of the Student Accident Relief Grant Scheme, urging swift resolution of pending cases. He also highlighted the need to raise awareness among teachers to ensure students and their parents can independently access support in the unfortunate event of an accident.
Abitkar also underscored the significance of student health and directed the Health Department to guarantee comprehensive screening of all students under RBSK during the meeting.
This initiative reflects the government's commitment to strengthening student healthcare services and ensuring that technology plays a vital role in facilitating accessible and efficient medical care for students in rural areas.
