The redevelopment of Ratnagiri Airport under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) is making steady progress, with 10% of the work already completed on-site. The ambitious Rs 55.56 crore project is set to enhance regional air connectivity, boost tourism, and stimulate economic growth in the region.
Swati Pandey, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC), shared an update on social media, emphasizing the importance of site oversight to ensure timely completion of infrastructure projects. She described the initiative as a "game-changer" for Ratnagiri, promising modern facilities and improved accessibility.
The upgraded airport will feature a state-of-the-art Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) spanning approximately 3,390 square meters, designed to handle 125 passengers per hour. The project, scheduled for completion within 18 months, will also include GRC cladding and landscaping for aesthetic enhancement, along with a 950-square-meter utility block.
In addition to aviation infrastructure, the development plan incorporates symbolic and cultural elements, such as a grand entrance arch at Mazgaon Road Junction, a flag mast representing regional pride, and a unique Mango Bonsai Garden paying tribute to Ratnagiri’s famed Alphonso mangoes.

With Dorsch serving as the Project Management Consultant (PMC) and Nyati as the contractor, the redevelopment aims to transform Ratnagiri into a key aviation hub. The project is expected to significantly improve connectivity and support the region’s economic and tourism sectors.
As construction continues, stakeholders remain optimistic that the upgraded Ratnagiri Airport will soon offer enhanced air travel facilities, bringing the region closer to national and international networks.
