Mumbai: The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) is set to construct a 104 km expressway connecting Tawa and Bharveer to the Vadhavan port in Palghar, facilitating its link to the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Highway.
The state cabinet has approved the highway's alignment and the land acquisition process, which involves acquiring one thousand hectares of land at a cost of Rs 1.5 thousand crore. A drone survey for this land acquisition will commence soon.

Additionally, a 32 km highway from Tawa Junction to Waror will be built by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to connect the port with other districts.
The total distance from Tawa to Bharveer is approximately 183.48 km, but with the new expressway, this will reduce to 104 km, cutting travel time from four to five hours to about one and a half hours.
The six-lane highway will include four interchange lanes, one railway bridge, 14 major bridges, six minor bridges, and nine tunnels. The route will pass through Dahanu, Wada, Jawhar, Mokhada, Trimbakeshwar, and Igatpuri, acquiring around one thousand hectares of land in these areas. Transparency regarding the land acquisition process is promised by officials.
Post land acquisition and tendering, construction will begin, with an expectation to complete the project within three years. Consequently, travel time from Bharveer to Tawa will significantly decrease, and the journey to Vadhavan Port will take only a few minutes thanks to the ongoing NHAI road project.
