Maharashtra: Jalna Administration Issues Externment Notice To 9, Including Manoj Jarange-Patil's Brother-In-Law Vilas Khedkar

The Jalna administration has served an externment notice on nine persons accused of involvement in either sand smuggling, some other crime, or for their role in Maratha reservation protests. They have been externed from Jalna, as well as from the districts of Beed, Parbhani, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

Mumbai: The Jalna administration has served an externment notice on nine persons accused of involvement in either sand smuggling, some other crime, or for their role in Maratha reservation protests. They have been externed from Jalna, as well as from the districts of Beed, Parbhani, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

About The Deportation Action

Among those to be deported is Vilas Khedkar, the brother-in-law of Maratha reservation leader Manoj Jarange-Patil. The deportation action was ordered by the Ambad subdivisional judicial magistrate. Of the nine, six of the accused were actively involved in the Maratha reservation protests led by Jarange-Patil. Some of the charges invoked include sand theft, attempted murder, and arson during the Antarwali Sarati protest and obstruction of government officers in the discharge of their duties.

Manoj Jarange-Patil Reacts To The Deportation Of His Brother-In-Law

In a statement to the media, Manoj Jarange-Patil reacted to the deportation of his brother-in-law, Vilas Khedkar, saying, “What has the government been doing for the past 2.5 years? Even if they imprison my entire family, I will not step back in my fight for the Maratha community. I believe this is a new conspiracy to silence me and stop me from speaking.”

Responding to questions on the action, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, “Arrests are not on the basis of family connections. Arrests are made only if a crime has been committed. I am unaware of the details of this case, but I will gather the necessary information and share it with you.”
