Maharashtra Govt Plans To Replace Coal Tandoors With Electric Alternatives In Mumbai Restaurants

On Tuesday, Maharashtra’s Environment and Climate Change Minister Pankaja Munde convened a meeting with officials from the BMC and the Pollution Control Board to address the deteriorating air quality in Mumbai. It was revealed that the use of coal tandoors contributes to the worsening air pollution.

Mumbai: The state government is considering implementing a regulation to replace wood fire tandoors with electric tandoors in restaurants in Mumbai.

On Tuesday, Maharashtra’s Environment and Climate Change Minister Pankaja Munde convened a meeting with officials from the BMC and the Pollution Control Board to address the deteriorating air quality in Mumbai.

It was revealed that the use of coal tandoors contributes to the worsening air pollution. As a result, the government may consider this regulation in the future.
