Navi Mumbai: Five people, including a Diploma in Pharmacy holder alleged to be the mastermind behind manufacturing narcotics, have been arrested after police busted a drug manufacturing unit operating from a house in Tadwadi, Village Patharaj, Taluka Karjat, Raigad. One accused remains absconding, said Raigad Superintendent of Police Anchal Dalal.
Villagers’ Tip-Off Leads to Raid
The raid, conducted on August 11, by a team from Neral Police Station and Kalamb outpost, followed a tip-off from Tadwadi villagers who reported a strong chemical smell and suspicious activity in the area.
Seizure Worth Over Rs 16 Lakh
Acting under the guidance of senior officers, police raided the premises and seized chemicals, machinery, and raw materials used to produce MD, valued at approximately Rs 15.16 lakh. Mobile phones worth Rs 1.30 lakh were also confiscated.
Accused Attempted to Bribe Villagers
According to police, the villagers were tried to bribe by the accused so as to stop them from informing the police
Those arrested include Javed Ahmed Sheikh (38), Sachin Rammilan Jayswar (31), Mohamad Jafar Mohamad Ali (39), Amit Ashok Kumar Kori (23), Bharat Siddheshwar Jadhav (36), and Laxman Devaram Fasal of Tadwadi, Karjat (absconding).
Materials Sourced from Thane
Investigations revealed that accused Jayswar, a D.Pharm graduate, was primarily responsible for manufacturing the drugs, while accused Sheikh of Dharavi, Mumbai, allegedly handled their sale in the city. The raw materials for the operation were reportedly sourced from Thane.

Seven-Day Police Custody Granted
"The Karjat court has granted seven days of police custody for the arrested suspects. The operation was part of an anti-drug campaign launched in August 2025 under the directives of Special Inspector General of Police Sanjay Darade," SP Dalal said.
