President Santiago Peña Palacios is currently on a three-day state visit to India from June 2–4, at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This marks his first-ever visit to India, and only the second time a Paraguay President has visited the country.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Peña is accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising ministers, senior officials, and business representatives, according to the news agency PTI. The visit was to review bilateral relations and identify new areas for strategic cooperation.

During the visit, President Peña will meet with Indian political leaders, industrialists, startups, tech innovators, and members of the business community. India and Paraguay share growing economic ties, especially in sectors like automobiles and pharmaceuticals, where Indian companies have a presence in Paraguay. Similarly, Paraguayan firms, mainly through joint ventures, are operating in India.

India and Paraguay established diplomatic relations on September 13, 1961, and have since maintained warm and friendly relations.
