Mumbai: A day after Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis directed the Crime Investigation Department (CID) to initiate the process of confiscating the assets of the wanted accused in the murder of Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh in Beed district, the police began seizing the properties of the fugitive accused.

The CID has already taken over the investigation into the killing of Deshmukh, and the directives to seize the properties of the accused were given late Saturday night.

Fadnavis' directives come at a time when three accused involved in a broad-daylight murder of Santosh Deshmukh are still absconding.

Meanwhile, social activist Anjali Damania has been pushing for the resignation of minister Dhananjay Munde and the arrest of Valmik Karad, a key suspect in the case.

Two days ago, in a sensational development in the Deshmukh murder case, Damania claimed that the three wanted accused might have been killed, and their bodies were discovered along the Maharashtra-Karnataka border.

However, the Beed police dismissed this claim, stating that no such incident had occurred in Basvakalyan near the Maharashtra-Karnataka border.

According to the police, the individual who sent the voice message to Damania was reportedly intoxicated at the time.

Authorities have urged the public to report any useful information directly to the police, warning that spreading false information could hinder the investigation and cause confusion.

In the ongoing investigation, CID officials have seized two mobile phones from a black Scorpio, which was allegedly used in the murder. Damania has claimed that one of the phones contains a video showing the accused brutally assaulting Deshmukh.

She also mentioned that a call from a minister was allegedly received on the phone, and she urged the police to disclose the caller’s identity.

To date, Beed police have questioned over 100 people in the case.

The seizure of the mobile phones is considered a critical lead in the case.

The authorities have also urged citizens to cooperate with the police to ensure the investigation proceeds smoothly and any disruptive actions are avoided.
