Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inspected the ‘Yashwantrao Chavan Mumbai-Pune Expressway Missing Link Project’ on Monday, July 12. He was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Member of Parliament Shrirang Appa Barne, and senior officials during the visit.
In an X post, CM Devendra Fadnavis shared pictures from the inspection and, in the caption, highlighted key features of the project. He mentioned, "Under the 'Yashwantrao Chavan Mumbai-Pune Express Missing Link Project,' the country's longest and the world's widest tunnel, along with a remarkable example of engineering, a cable-stayed bridge, is being constructed."
In a separate news story related to the inspection of the Navi Mumbai International Airport. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis conducted an inspection of the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) to review the progress of the project. He was joined by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Forest Minister Ganesh Naik during the visit. The inspection focused on evaluating the overall development of the airport's infrastructure.
Speaking to the media after the visit, CM Fadnavis said, "Today, we came here to review the progress of the airport. We saw a detailed presentation on the work's advancement from the runway to the terminal building, and got all the information regarding it. Approximately 94 per cent of the physical progress is complete," as reported by news agency PTI.
He noted that the runway is now fully completed, while interior work in the terminal building is still underway. The exterior works, such as the façade and ceiling, are being accelerated, and other construction activities are progressing steadily.
He also observed the advanced baggage-handling system at the airport. "We saw the baggage-handling system, which is the most efficient, in which the barcode of the baggage can be read through 360-degree scanning systems, ensuring it reaches the right place. We have asked the authorities that the baggage claim system in this airport should be the fastest not only in the country but in the entire world, and efforts are being made in that direction," Fadnavis said, as reported.
