Maharashtra is focusing on speeding up the proposed MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) project at Hatani and Valti in Buldhana district's Chikhli taluka, along with the plan to develop 'Jijau Srushti' at Sindkhed Raja in keeping with the historical significance of Rajmata Jijau's birthplace. These projects are said to boost tourism significantly in the Vidarbha region.
Land Transfer, Master Plan Preparation Prioritised
On Friday, Maharashtra's tourism minister Shambhuraj Desai held a review meeting at Mantralay with key government officials on both the projects. He directed Buldhana's district collector to hand over the land required for the proposed MICE project to the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation. Officials were also directed to promptly prepare the project's master plan, architectural design, detailed project report and cost estimates.
According to the tourism ministry, the meeting also covered the financial provisions needed for the project, funding planning and the roadmap for its implementation going forward.
'Jijau Srushti' Project Under Consideration
The meeting also discussed the proposed 'Jijau Srushti' project, a tribute site planned for the all-round development of Rajmata Jijau's birthplace at Sindkhed Raja. According to the ministry, a number of conservation and preservation works have been completed under the development plan and the proposal to develop Jijau Srushti is now under consideration, with the aim of making the historic site more attractive, informative and tourism-ready.
The minister stated that the proposal for this project will be submitted to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and Dy CM Eknath Shinde, and will be followed up for approval. Once a final decision is taken, all tourism department work related to the project, including planning, detailed design, fund allocation, and phase-wise execution, will be carried out in coordination with Buldhana's guardian minister Makrand Aaba Patil.
The project is said to play an important role in bringing Rajmata Jijau's inspiring history, legacy and cultural heritage before tourists through modern means.
The meeting was attended by Buldhana's guardian minister Makrand Aaba Patil, MLAs Shweta Mahale, Manoj Kayande, MTDC's managing director Neelesh Gatne, tourism department's deputy secretary Vijay Powar, assistant director Ravindra Pawar, Assistant Director, Directorate of Tourism, Buldhana Collector, deputy conservator of forests and assistant director of the archaeology department, among others.
