Bombay HC hears two PILs on the political crisis in the state
Bombay High Court is currently hearing two PILs- First plea is for Eknath Shinde and others to resume work while the second PIL urges registration of an FIR against Uddhav Thackeray, who resigned as CM yesterday, and others. The bench is led by CJ Dipankar Datta.
HC directs petitioners in first PIL against Shinde to deposit cost of Rs. 1 lakh as a pre-condition for the petition to be heard.
"Prime facie we find PIL is politically induced and made without requisite research before invoking PIL jurisdiction," the court said.
The bench has dismissed second petition by Hemant Patil seeking FIR against Thackeray, with liberty to approach the magistrates court.
"What does the CrPC provide? Move a private complaint. Anyone can file a complaint. Dismissed with liberty," the bench said.
Key meeting of rebel MLAs underway in Goa
Eknath Shinde is likely to return to Mumbai after a meeting with other rebel MLAs at Goa's The Taj hotel. BJP MLAs are also currently staying at the same hotel.
In the meeting, Shinde is briefing rebel MLAs on how to address the people in their constituencies about their decision to switch sides.
Additionally, BJP national general secretary CT Ravi has reached Devendra Fadnavis' Mumbai residence.
