Maharashtra Accident: 45-Year-Old BMC Deputy Commissioner’s Wife Dies In Kasara Bypass Car Crash; Probe Underway

A 45-year-old businesswoman, Rajshree Gaikwad, the wife of Deputy Municipal Commissioner BMC Parshant Gaikwad, died, and two others, including a driver, were injured after a car suddenly went off the road and crashed into a stone on Saturday morning.

Thane: A 45-year-old businesswoman, Rajshree Gaikwad, the wife of Deputy Municipal Commissioner BMC Parshant Gaikwad, died, and two others, including a driver, were injured after a car suddenly went off the road and crashed into a stone on Saturday morning. The police said that Rajshree had a garment and real estate business.

The incident took place at Kasara bypass Ghat under the jurisdiction of the Kasara Police Station on Saturday at 11:30 AM when Rajshree Gaikwad was in her car along with the driver Shrikant Popat Sikanadar and CEO Manoj Honaji Shiledar, heading towards Nashik for a business meeting when they met with an accident.

The police said that they learned that Gaikwad was sitting beside the driver while the CEO was sitting in the rear seat of the car. The driver stated in the FIR that someone hit them from behind, causing the car to go off into the road, and they were struck by a stone.

The locals alerted the police about the accident. Thereafter, the police rushed to the spot, and they were taken to the primary health center in Kasara, where Rajshree was declared dead during treatment.

The police said that Rajshree suffered serious injuries to her head and she succumbed to her injuries, while the CEO was referred to a private hospital in Pune after receiving first aid, and the driver was discharged after first aid. The body was handed over to family members for final rites after the post-mortem was performed. The final rites were performed at Airoli Crematorium on Sunday evening, where a large number of BMC officers and relatives gathered to offer their condolences.

Police Inspector Suresh Gavit from Kasara Police Station said, "We registered an FIR against unknown person based on the complaint of the car driver. As per statement of Driver some one hit them from behind. However no dent evidence have been found in the car. We brought the car to the police station and further investigation is ongoing. Morever we will review the CCTV footage nearby by road and determine whether any other vehicle hit them or not."
