A day after the retaining wall on a hill slope outside Hanging Garden collapsed and led to the cracking of a portion of BG Kher Road, the road from Kemps Corner to RTI Junction in south Mumbai continues to remain closed.

This closure of road resulted in a traffic chaos wherein motorists had to take a long detour using the Haji Ali-Tardeo Road-Nana Chowk-Opera House/Wilson College route for travelling for work. A domino traffic effect was observed on Nana Chowk and Haji Ali Road after the diverted vehicles created a bottleneck traffic.

The road was shut for vehicular traffic since the incident on Thursday and is likely to remain closed for the next four days as to avert any damage if a similar incident was to happen in the same spot before repairs are conducted, said police.
