The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has intensified its action against property tax defaulters by sealing properties across the Kalyan-Dombivli region. KDMC officials sealed over 28 properties for non-payment of property tax despite repeated reminder notices.

The crackdown was carried out across various wards of the twin city under the instructions of Commissioner Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar. A team led by Swati Deshpande, Deputy Municipal Commissioner from the Tax Department, took stringent action.

Despite repeated notices, 18 shops belonging to Krishi Utpann Bazar Samiti in Kalyan had failed to clear their dues. A team comprising tax department officials Dhananjay Thorat and Balwant Bajage visited the location and sealed the properties, with outstanding dues amounting to approximately ₹26,28,565.

According to KDMC officials, they also sealed ten flats in Ward 1/A of the KDMC limits, where arrears amounted to around ₹2,90,000. In Ward 5/D, the Union Bank ATM shop was sealed due to tax arrears of about ₹2,19,380.

Moreover, in Ward J, KDMC officials disconnected the water supply of defaulters who failed to clear their dues despite multiple reminders. The total water tax arrears in the Kate Manevli-Tisgaon area of Kalyan stand at ₹11,45,241.

The civic officials confirmed that water supply has been disconnected in areas such as Ganeshwadi, Kolsewadi, Netivali, and Tisgaon due to long-pending arrears.

To encourage timely payments, KDMC had launched the Abhaya Yojana from March 1, 2025, to March 15, 2025, offering a 100% waiver on interest and penalties. However, due to the ongoing recovery drive, the scheme has been extended until March 31, 2025.

The KDMC has intensified its efforts to recover tax arrears by sealing properties, attaching assets, and cutting off water connections. The civic body aims to improve revenue collection and ensure compliance through these strict measures.
