Mumbai : An application has been submitted against comedian Kapil Sharma for alleged destruction of mangroves and debris dumping, encroachment  and wanton ecological destruction.

The complaint, submitted to Versova police station by Asad Patel, a Right to Information (RTI) activist, through his lawyer, states, “My client Asad Patel, an RTI activist, heard the news of illegal construction by Mr. Kapil Sharma. He came to know that Sharma has destroyed mangroves and then carried out illegal dumping, encroachment and illegal eco-destruction. My client and his friend Mazhir rushed immediately to the location at 70-71, Jankidevi Public school Road at S.V. Patel Nagar in Andheri (W).  They were surprised to note that the place is encroached and illegally occupied and mangroves have been destroyed by Kapil Sharma and his hirelings. The area is full of mangroves and a prudent man can see that at the encroached place the mangroves have been destroyed and dumping of debris has been done which is illegal and against the law of the state.”

Though notice against action of illegal construction has been issued by the MCGM officials, no action has been taken against Sharma for illegal construction, encroachment, illegal eco-destruction, destroying and theft of mangroves and debris dumping.

“Strict action should be taken under Section 378 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code, the Forest Act, 1927, Environment Protection Act,1986, the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act and as per the directions of the Bombay High Court in conservation of mangroves matter against Kapil Sharma and his hirelings by arresting them and the place may be seized and sealed immediately. A First Infromation Report( FIR) should be registered against him.” said Asad Patel, RTI activist. “We have received the application of Asad Patel, the RTI activist. The matter is being investigated,” said Kiran Kale, investigating officer, Versova police station.
