The main accused, Vishal Gawli, and his third wife, Sakshi Gawli, in connection with the kidnapping, rape, and murder of a 13-year-old girl were produced in court on Thursday and remanded to police custody for two days for further investigation.
The investigating officer sought police custody, citing that the SIM card, mobile phone, and bag in which the girl's body was stuffed are yet to be recovered.
The lawyer of the accused stated that the clothes of the deceased girl and slippers of the accused have been confiscated by the police. Spot panchanama has been performed.
The CCTV footage of the route taken to dispose of the body has been seized by the police. He stated that the investigation has been completed and prayed for judicial custody.
The investigating officer sought police custody for further investigation. The police sources said that the accused, Vishal, threw a bag into a creek located in the Padgha jurisdiction.
Vishal allegedly kidnapped the girl, took her to his home, raped her, and later murdered her. With the help of Sakshi, Vishal stuffed the girl's body in a bag and dumped it in Bapgaon near a graveyard within the jurisdiction of the Padgha police station on December 23.
The Padgha police recovered the girl's body on December 24 and sent it to the hospital for a post-mortem. Police sources said that the post-mortem report indicated that the cause of death was strangulation.
The accused have been identified as Vishal Gawli, 35, who was arrested from Shegaon in Buldhana on Wednesday (Decemebe 25) and Sakshi Gawli, 25, his third wife and police apprehended her from Kalyan on Tuesday night (December 24).
The several residents gathered outside the Kalyan court and held placards and posters which stated, "Judge Sahab, Insaf Karo" and "Bitiya ke Hatyaro ko Fashi Do." They demanded that the accused receive the death penalty, and the case is on a fast track to obtain the death punishment and to be hanged.
