Aurangabad : Wakayama province government in Japan has agreed to provide assistance to the Government of Maharashtra for the development of tourism at Ajanta and Ellora, on the outskirts of Aurangabad.
The delegation comprising of Prof Okuyama, Suji Bayeshi and Prof Miyamoto was on a three-day tour of Aurangabad, during which it visited the world monuments and heritage sites apart from having a meeting with the Vice-Chancellor of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University.
The Japanese delegation flew back yesterday after chalking out the detailed programme of bringing developments in tourism of the city. Delegates had two rounds of meetings with the officials of the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) during their stay in Aurangabad.
As reported earlier, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Governments of Maharashtra and Wakayama. According to the MoU, efforts will be taken for setting up facilities and information centre in Aurangabad for Japanese tourists. As part of the MoU, one special counter will also be set up here in Aurangabad for imparting information to Japanese tourists in Japanese language. This will enable Japanese tourists to have literature of these tourists places in Japanese language apart from CDs and audio aid. The MTDC officers suggested the delegation to launch a programme to teach Japanese language to the local taxi drivers, hotel
employees, traders and others. The delegation accepted the proposal.
