International Women’s Day 2025: Western Railway Celebrates With Grand Cultural Event And Women Empowerment Initiatives

Western Railway celebrated International Women’s Day 2025 with great enthusiasm, organizing various activities for its women employees from March 6, 2025. The celebrations concluded with a grand cultural event held at Godbole Hall, Western Railway HQ Building, Churchgate, on March 10, 2025. Ashok Kumar Misra, General Manager of Western Railway, was the Chief Guest, while Smt. Kshama Misra, President of the Western Railway Women’s Welfare Organization (WRWWO), was the Guest of Honour. The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day was “Accelerate Action.”

According to Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, Vineet Abhishek, the keynote address at the closing event was delivered by Manjula Saxena, Principal Chief Personnel Officer of Western Railway, who emphasized the significance of women’s empowerment and the contributions of women employees in the railway sector. Following this, General Manager Ashok Kumar Misra released a book titled ‘Swayamsiddha,’ which provides essential information for women employees along with health and lifestyle tips. In his address, Misra highlighted the remarkable achievements of women across various fields and stressed that women’s empowerment must begin at home. He emphasized that changing attitudes and behaviors towards women and girls within families is crucial for collective progress, ensuring success is not limited to a select few.

During the event, Western Railway, in collaboration with Fever 104 FM, released an exclusive video titled “पश्चिम रेलवे की नायिका” (Western Railway’s Heroine), showcasing the dedication of its women employees in ensuring a safe and comfortable travel experience for passengers.

As part of the celebrations, a puppet show (ventriloquism) by Suchi Mahadik entertained the audience with an engaging performance. Additionally, a Chair Yoga session by Dr. Jancy Shekar was conducted, promoting well-being among employees. The celebrations concluded with a vibrant cultural program, attended by Principal Heads of Departments, WRWWO committee members, representatives from various associations and unions, as well as women officers and staff of Western Railway.

The Women’s Day celebration at Western Railway was truly a memorable event, incorporating activities focused on fun, wellness, and empowerment.
