In a special initiative to mark International Women’s Day, Motherhood Hospital, Kharghar, organized a free health check-up camp for female police personnel at the Navi Mumbai Police Headquarters. The event, which benefited around 300 women officers, was graced by Commissioner of Police Milind Bharambe and DCP Rashmi Nandedkar.

The hospital provided essential health screenings, including Complete Blood Count (CBC), Calcium, Thyroid Panel, Pap Smear, and Bone Mineral Density (BMD) tests. These tests aimed to help female officers stay informed about their health and take necessary preventive measures.

Women in law enforcement often prioritize their professional responsibilities over personal health, which can lead to undiagnosed medical issues. The hospital’s expert team, including Dr. Pratima Thamke, Dr. Surabhi Siddhartha, Dr. Anuja Thomas, and Dr. Shruti Ugran, conducted comprehensive check-ups and offered medical guidance to address potential health concerns.

Dr. Pratima Thamke, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Motherhood Hospital, emphasized the importance of regular health screenings. "Lady cops dedicate their lives to serving society, often at the cost of their own health. This physically and mentally demanding profession leaves little time for self-care, leading to the neglect of symptoms like abnormal bleeding, persistent abdominal pain, or unusual fatigue. Early detection through screenings like Pap smears, thyroid panels, and bone health tests is crucial for timely intervention," she said.

Dr. Rupali Kadam, Facility Director at Motherhood Hospital, Kharghar, highlighted the significance of preventive healthcare for women in demanding professions. "At Motherhood Hospitals, we believe that women, especially those in law enforcement, should prioritize their health as much as their duty. Through this initiative, we aim to raise awareness about preventive check-ups and empower female police personnel to take charge of their well-being," she stated.

Commissioner of Police Milind Bharambe lauded the hospital’s efforts, stating that women often neglect their health while juggling family and work. "To survive in today’s fast-paced world, being healthy is crucial. This initiative by Motherhood Hospital is commendable and will help female police officers assess their health concerns, enabling them to perform their responsibilities more effectively both at work and home," he said.

DCP Rashmi Nandedkar echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing that a woman’s well-being is integral to a healthy family. "When a woman’s health deteriorates, the entire family is affected. Proactive health check-ups are essential, and by prioritizing their own health, women can ensure a happier and healthier family life," she said.
