The Maharashtra State Commission for Women (MSCW), led by Chairperson Rupali Chakankar, has taken cognizance of a complaint filed by advocates Ashish Raj and Pankaj Mishra against the controversial online show ‘India’s Got Latent’ over alleged vulgar and obscene comments made during the program.

In a letter to the Mumbai Police, the MSCW stated that the show’s content creators—Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, and others—allegedly disrespected women through their content. The letter further alleged that the show, which aired on an online platform, contained obscene material, and the creators had used abusive and vulgar language, thereby attempting to outrage the modesty of women.

The MSCW has urged the police to register a case against the accused under stringent provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant sections of the Information Technology (IT) Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.

The controversy erupted after Allahbadia made a comment on the show that was widely criticized as vulgar and obscene. His remark sparked outrage across political, social, legal, and women’s rights organizations, leading to calls for action against the show and its creators.
