Indian Railways has decided to launch a Special Bharat Gaurav Circuit Yatra to honor the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The announcement was made during a recent Lok Sabha session by the Minister of Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, who emphasized the government's commitment to linking key historical sites associated with the great Maratha warrior.

Vaishnaw stated that important forts, palaces, and battlefields across Maharashtra and Karnataka, which played a crucial role in Shivaji Maharaj’s life, will be connected through this special train circuit. The initiative aims to offer passengers, particularly the youth, an opportunity to explore and connect with India’s rich Maratha history.

"Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj laid the foundation of Hindavi Swaraj, and the landscape of Maharashtra and Karnataka is filled with places that reflect his legacy. The Bharat Gaurav Circuit Yatra will allow people to witness this glorious past firsthand," Vaishnaw further stated.

Apart from that, while addressing concerns regarding rail connectivity to Pune, the Railway Minister acknowledged Pune’s importance as an educational, technological, and railway hub. He assured that the demand for more trains to the city is being actively addressed.

Vaishnaw also highlighted major developmental projects underway for Pune’s railway infrastructure, including the rapid progress of the upgradation of Pune Station and its surroundings.

Additionally, Uruli station, located near Pune, is being developed as a train terminus to manage maintenance and reduce congestion at Pune Station.

Hadapsar and Shivaji Nagar stations are also being developed as satellite terminal stations, further easing the burden on Pune Junction and allowing for an increase in the number of trains. "These developments aim to improve connectivity to Pune while ensuring better facilities for passengers," he said.
