Hindu groups have asked all police stations in the state to replicate a search operation launched by Kolad police station in Raigad district to identify Bangladeshis and Rohingyas living and working in projects in the industrial areas around Nagothane.

The Kolad police have issued directives during a recent meeting with police patils - village representatives appointed by police - to contact the police station to report suspected Bangladeshis and other migrants. Public awareness has been created in every village, police said.

Police said that in the 'peace committee' (community outreach groups) held at Kolad police station, there was a request to report information on suspected migrants to the police stations.

Police said they will investigate new labourers on new projects in the area. Handcart and traveling vendors should be investigated by checking Aadhaar cards, police said, adding that the population (of suspected infiltrators) is increasing in areas such as Miranagar and Nagothane.

Notices have been put up at public places asking citizens to contact the Kolad police station to report suspicious infiltrators.

Groups like the Hindu Janjagruti Samiti have been leading the campaign 'Rohingya Eviction, Save the Nation', said that every police station must act. "Kolad police station has set an example," said Sunil Ghanwat of the HJS.
