Thane: Due to heavy rain on Tuesday, July 5 a Gulmohar tree has fallen on the high tension wire of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL). The electricity has been affected in the surrounding area and the repair work will take 24 hours so the MSEDCL will arrange an alternative power supply for the affected areas.
Avinash Sawant, Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) chief said, " We received a complaint in the disaster management room at around, 10:40 am on Tuesday regarding gulmohar tree falling on the high tension wire of MSEDCl and the two poles of MSEDCL were completely bent. The incident took place near D.A.V school opposite Trinity Society at Tulsidham in Thane (West). Soon after receiving the complaint a disaster management cell, team along with one pick-up vehicle, tree authority department staff, MSEDCL staff and fire brigade personnel with one fire vehicle were rushed to the spot. Fortunately, no casualties were reported."
Sawant further added, "With the help of disaster management cell staff, tree Authority staff and fire brigade personnel the fallen tree was cut down to avoid any untoward incidence. MSEDCL has been shutting down since 10 am due to falling tree on MSEDCL cable. Electricity supply to Cine Wonder Mall, Cinemax Mall, Fermenta Biotech Company, Thane-1 Complex and the entire area of Tulshidham has been disrupted."
MSEDCL officials said, "Two electric poles and high tension wire of MSEDCL and street light pole of Thane Municipal Corporation(TMC) fell due to heavy rain. The repair work will take about 24 hours. We will provide an alternative power supply to the affected areas."
