Mumbai : While railway authorities will take another three years to increase the height of the platforms, people are dying each day. On Friday, a 28-year-old died after falling into the gap between the train and the platform at Andheri at 3 pm on Friday.

Praveen Kumar (28), a computer technician was trying to board a crowded train at platform no. 2 on Andheri station when he fell off. An official from government railway police said, “He was found lying in a pool of blood on the tracks. He was rushed to Cooper Hospital as his right arm was crushed beneath the train.”

It is the second such incidence in the last 24 hours. On Thursday, a railway employee fell in the gap at Boisar station while trying to board a crowded train. According to GRP personnel, Praveen had boarded a train in Borivali and jumped out of the train while it was reaching Borivali. However, before the train could reach the platform Praveen slipped and fell into the gap between the train and the platform.

His mother who lived in Chennai was on her way to meet her son and had reached Mumbai at 3 pm. While she was on her way to Praveen’s house in Andheri, she was informed about the accident.
