Gangster DK Rao, 6 Others Arrested By Mumbai Crime Branch For Demanding Extortion Money Of ₹2.5 Cr & Giving Death Threats To Hotelier

The Anti-Extortion Cell of Mumbai's Crime Branch on Thursday arrested gangster DK. Rao and six others in connection with an extortion case.

Mumbai: The Anti-Extortion Cell of Mumbai's Crime Branch on Thursday arrested gangster DK. Rao and six others. The Anti-Extortion Cell received a complaint from a hotelier alleging that Rao and six others conspired to take over his hotel. The accused demanded Rs 2.5 crore as extortion.

The hotelier also claimed that the gangster and other accused also issued death threats to him. An FIR was registered on the basis of the complaint under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Who Is DK Rao?

According to reports, Rao had 41 cases registered against him, he was members of the the infamous Chhota Rajan gang and carried out extortion in the maximum city. He is a resident of Mumbai's Dharavi.

Out of the total cases registered against Rao, six are of murder, while five are related to dacoity. In October 2022, he was granted bail by the Bombay High Court in case related to extortion call which he allegedly made from behind bars.
