Mumbai: A non-cognizable offence has been registered against MLA Sanjay Gaikwad for allegedly assaulting a canteen employee in Marine Drive Police Station.
The incident, which recently went viral on social media, prompted action from the police following video evidence and statements from eyewitnesses present at the scene. The case has been registered under BNS Sections 115(2), 352, and Section 3(5).
Police have confirmed that the matter came to light after a video showing Gaikwad allegedly assaulting the worker circulated widely, leading to public outrage and calls for accountability. An inquiry was conducted into the incident before legal action was initiated.
