Bhayandar: Sleuths of the Kashimira police have arrested two men for posing as cops and extorting money from a local trader.
According to the police, three men posing as policemen had barged into the shop of Santosh Chauhan, a local betel nut trader, and threatened to implicate him in a false case. The trio demanded Rs 10,000 from Chauhan to evade police action. Fearing that he would get into needless trouble, Chauhan handed over the money. However, two of them again landed at the shop on Saturday, this time their demands had escalated to Rs 25,000. Sensing something fishy, Chauhan informed the local police following which police personnel reached the spot and nabbed the duo who have been identified as Rafique Ahmed Ali Shaikh and Sunil Gawli, both residents of Navi Mumbai.
While the duo has been arrested and booked under sections 384 and 170 of the IPC, their accomplice identified as Babloo is still at large, police said.
