Amid Nawab Malik’s repeated claim that Sameer Wankhede is a Muslim and he has appeared for IRS and got job with forged documents, the father of Wankhede’s first wife, Dr Zaheed Qureshi, on Thursday claimed that he always knew the Wankhede family as followers of Islam and that the name of the officer’s father was Dawood.
Dr Qureshi said that when his daughter Shabana married Wankhede, the latter practised Islam, and would occasionally visit mosques. Further, Dr Qureshi said that he came to know about Wankhede being a Hindu after a recent controversy over his birth certificate.
