Mumbai: The family members of Narendra Dabholkar and Govind Pansare, have alleged that the agencies investigating their killings have failed to conduct a fair probe. The families have claimed despite naming persons in the case, the probe agencies have, however, arrested only a few persons.
The contentions have been raised in an application by the family before a bench of Justices Satyaranjan Dharmadhikari and Gautam Patel. The bench has been monitoring the probe for more than three years and has time and again directed the probe agencies to ensure a fair probe in the killings.
In their application, the families have referred to the statements of Sharad Kalaskar and other accused in the case, who have been arrested. The statements have been mentioned in the chargesheets filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
“Despite these names, the agencies have only arrested a few persons. The agencies have failed to conduct a fair probe,” the family has contended in the application.
The plea further states that there is a huge conspiracy, which the probe agencies have failed to look into. “Several accused (both arrested and wanted) in the case, are also wanted or named in other cases like the proposed blast at Sunburn festival Pune and also in the blast which were allegedly to be executed during the Padmavat film issue,” the plea reads.
The plea further highlights the fact that the government has beefed up the security of several intellectuals.
“We have learnt that the government has enhanced the security of over 40 authors, mediapersons, parliamentarians and others. There is a larger conspiracy which needs to be probed but the agencies have confined themselves to the respective cases, they have been tasked to investigate,” the plea reads further.
The HC bench heard the family members last week but has not passed any order yet. It has adjourned the matter for further hearing after four weeks.
