Mumbai : Revealing the account details of various ‘benami’ flats of Adarsh Housing society, BJP has alleged that the scam was not only limited to three former Chief Ministers of the State. Politicians from the ruling Congress-NCP alliance in the State have “benami” flats in the controversial Adarsh Housing Society here, BJP MLA Devendra Fadnavis alleged.
Accusing the State government of dragging its feet over tabling the report in the State Legislature, Fadnavis, president of the State BJP
unit, said in the
Legislative Assembly that those having benami flats included present and former ministers. Without taking names of the politicians, he only took the names of their close associates well known in political circles.
There are records of cash payments transferred to the “dummy” owners, Fadnavis said, raising the issue while participating in the last week resolution on law and order issues. Layers of 4 to 5 accounts were used to hide the actual owner
” Rupali Raorane got the flat in the society. The money paid through her account was transferred from account no 5355 of Sindhudurg District Cooperative Bank. On 10 February 2005, the money was transferred from Sindhudurg Bank account to ICICI bank, from ICICI it was transferred to Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank (MSC Bank). Though on paper Raorane is owner of the flat, the real owner is the person who owns the account no. 5355,” Fadnavis claimed. Rupali Raorane is close confidant of a senior leader and Minister from Konkan.
” Like the same way, money traveled to Vithoba Dawle, Nivutti Bhosle, Jayshree Bhosle, Supriya Mhaske, Shivajirao Kale, Malav Shah, Aditya Patil, Amol Karbhari, Kiran Bhadange, Uttam Gakhre, Girish Mehta,” he alleged while giving details of bank accounts.
“The money originated from Pune District Cooperative Bank for Nivrutti Bhosle, Jayshree Bhosle, Supriya Mhaske, Shivajirao Kale,” Phadanvis tried to hint the names as Pune is known as power centre of State politics. Aditya Patil got the money from Sangli Co-operative Bank.
“I have all details of money transfer and original owners of the flat. I have submitted this to CBI,” he informed the House accusing the government of shielding its ministers.
The two-member commission of retired HC Judge Justice J A Patil and former Chief Secretary P Subrahmanium was set up in January 2011 to probe the Adarsh scam with reference to specific issues, such as land ownership, reservation of the plot, town planning and coastal violations and the role of public servants.
The report is expected to be tabled on Friday, the last day of the Monsoon Session of the State Legislature.
On the eve of the session, State Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan had hinted at the possibility of tabling the Adarsh panel report during the Monsoon Session.
The BJP leader’s comments came amid reports that the two-member judicial commission, appointed to probe the scam, has reportedly spared three former Chief Ministers and found that rules were bent for allotting land and granting various concessions to Adarsh Housing Society in Colaba.
