Mumbai : Following his wife’s minor accident at Worli on Friday evening, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has signed up for accident insurance of Rs 2 lakh under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana. He has also urged his followers to sign up for this insurance scheme.

The chief minister’s wife, Amruta Fadnavis (in pic), met with a minor accident on Friday evening and escaped unhurt. However, the car she was travelling in was damaged.

Fadnavis tweeted on close to midnight on Friday that he signed up for the insurance scheme and also appealed to others to do the same.

Amruta Fadnavis was on her way home from work at around 7 pm when her car (MH01 AN4848) was hit by a cement mixer truck at the Glaxo Junction in Worli. She escaped unhurt. She was accompanied by a security personnel, who was sitting in the car with her. He, too, escaped unhurt.

Amruta Fadnavis said, “Yesterday, while I was returning from office, a lorry dashed into my car. I am fine, but there is a dent in the car.” She did not lodge any complaint with the police even though the police had reached the spot quickly enough.

CM Fadnavis was in Kolhapur when the incident occurred and no reaction, except the tweet, has come from him.
