Thane: The Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday, reviewed the disaster control management system of the Thane district. During the review meeting Shinde said that in order to prevent loss of life in natural calamities, the agencies should start immediate rescue work in coordination. Also, all the departments in the district administration should be alert and ready to face the disaster.
Chief Minister said that the public works dept, MSRDC, MMRDA, and Municipal Corporation should take immediate action to fill the potholes on the roads.
During the review meeting chief secretary Manukumar Srivastava, additional chief secretary, principal secretary, secretaries of the ministries, Thane Zilla Parishad chief executive officer Dr Bhausaheb Dangade and Various department heads were present.
While instructing the officers to work at the field level, CM said the situation can be better controlled if the officers work in the field.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to fill the potholes on the roads carefully. "Take care that potholes do not cause accidents and loss of life. Fill the pits with the cold mix method and the road repair agencies to take care," he instructed.
Shinde said, "People should be shifted to safer places. The district administration is monitoring the flood situation and they should also take care that there is no loss of life in the area."
Care should be taken to maintain a smooth power supply
CM said that the electricity-providing machineries should be prepared for providing an uninterrupted and smooth power supply and also make sure that the grievance redressal centre should address the problems of the people. He directed the officials of the energy department to provide necessary facilities and equipment to the field staff and systems immediately.
While discharging water from the dams, the district administration should remain vigilant. "Railway authorities should be vigilant and coordinate with the civic bodies and be careful not to disturb the passengers if the train service is disrupted due to water logging. A Coordinating Officer (Nodal) should be appointed for this. Take the help of BEST, ST buses or local transport services for the convenience of the passengers," he added.
I am a public servant: Chief Minister
The Chief Minister also testified that the rains are increasing and all the systems are ready. "When the government and the administration work together, good public sentiment about the government is created. It works well if both the people's representatives and the government are at the same speed. I am working as a public servant of the state. People should get immediate relief in case of emergency," said Chief Minister.
Inspection of damaged crops to be done immediately
"In case of damage to crops due to excessive rainfall, they should be inspected immediately. Action should be taken to provide immediate help to the farmers," he said.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde concluded by saying, "The feeling of governance has come to our doorstep should reach to the people."
