Mumbai: The India Meteorological Centre on Monday predicted moderate showers in Mumbai and surrounding areas over the next two days, while south Konkan will receive higher intensity rain during the same period.
A met department official said that the forecast for Marathwada region, which was that of a dry spell this week, was on Monday changed to one with isolated showers in some pockets.
The Madhya Maharashtra region will also get showers in a few isolated places, and so will Vidarbha, though the rain will be of low intensity, the Met department said.
Mahesh Palawat, director, Skymet said Mumbai likely to continue receiving some rainfall activity in the next 24 hours. Thereafter, intensity will go down as the southwesterly winds in the wake of Cyclone Vayu will fade away.
“The rains will reduce after Tuesday being on the lighter side. However, another spell of Mumbai rains is likely to occur over coastal parts of Maharashtra, between June 23 and 26. Isolated heavy to very heavy rains are also likely during that time,” said Palawat.
