To enhance passenger convenience , Central Railway has increased the speed of 44 pairs of trains from 110 kmph to 130 kmph on the Daund-Solapur-Wadi section. This upgrade, implemented after extensive infrastructure improvements, aims to reduce travel time and improve service quality.

An official from Central Railway stated, “Infrastructure upgradation works such as track improvement, Over Head Equipment (OHE) regulation, signaling enhancements, and other technical modifications have been carried out on a war footing. These efforts have enabled us to raise train speeds from 110 kmph to 130 kmph over a stretch of 341.80 kilometers in both UP and Down directions.”

The upgraded speed applies to the 44 pairs of trains, including LTT-Coimbatore-LTT Express, LTT-Karaikal-LTT Weekly Express, CSMT-Bhubaneswar-CSMT Konark Express, CSMT-Bengaluru-CSMT Udyan Express, Solapur-Hassan-Solapur Express, Pune-Secunderabad-Pune Shatabdi Express, CSMT-Solapur-CSMT Siddeshwar Express, Pune-Solapur-Pune Hutatma Express, LTT-Madurai-LTT Express, CSMT-Chennai-CSMT Express, LTT-Chennai-LTT Superfast Express, Varanasi-Mysuru-Varanasi Superfast Express, Ahmedabad-Yeswantpur-Ahmedabad Superfast Express, CSMT-Hyderabad-CSMT Express, Pune-Bhubaneswar-Pune Superfast Special, Ahmedabad-Chennai-Ahmedabad Humsafar Express, Yeswantpur-Jaipur-Yeswantpur Suvidha Express, CSMT-Solapur-CSMT Vande Bharat Express, Kalaburagi-Bengaluru-Kalaburagi Vande Bharat Express, and Pune-Harangul-Pune Special. The travel time of these trains is expected to reduce in the upcoming timetable revision.

Highlighting the benefits, an official added, “The increase in speed will reduce travel time, enabling passengers to reach their destinations quicker. This translates to significant time savings, higher productivity, and economic benefits. Faster trains will also increase passenger satisfaction, providing a more efficient and comfortable journey.”

Faster trains are also environmentally advantageous. “Reduced fuel consumption lowers greenhouse gas emissions and decreases the carbon footprint, aligning with sustainable goals. Furthermore, this initiative will strengthen Central Railway's competitiveness by attracting more passengers and increasing market share,” the official stated.

According to CR, speed enhancement has been implemented only after comprehensive safety inspections and adherence to all regulations, including temporary and permanent speed restrictions.
