Navi Mumbai police have detained a man along with an auto-rickshaw driver after a video surfaced showing the duo performing a reckless stunt on a public road. The video, which quickly went viral, was shot by a motorist driving behind them.

In the footage, the man is seen dangerously standing on the rear footrest of a moving auto, gripping the frame while the auto picks up speed on an empty stretch.

The incident reportedly took place earlier this week, with the video prompting swift action from the authorities.

The two have been booked under relevant sections of the IPC and Motor Vehicles Act for endangering public safety. Police are also examining whether the act was part of a social media trend.
