Mumbai : Citing security concerns, members of the BEST management on Thursday strongly objected to the parking of private vehicles in BEST bus depots.
The proposal to increase fares of the vehicles was being discussed in the committee meeting Thursday which drew sharp criticism from the members. They stated that the price charged by the BEST was very less.
When parking at any other place is as high as Rs100 for an hour, the BEST is charging merely Rs 200 for the entire day.
Member Kedar Hombalkar said, “The BEST is as good as giving it for free as the fare is extremely low. On the other hand there are no precautionary measures taken to insure that the vehicles are safe.”
Another member said, “There needs to be a mechanism for checking parked vehicles for explosive.”
