Mumbai: A tragic accident took place on the Bandra Sea Link on the night of April 4, resulting in injuries to a couple who were then hospitalized. The pair, aged 29 and 26, were on their way home when a fast-moving Skoda, operated by 24-year-old Eshaan Patel, collided with their vehicle.
Witnesses reported that the Skoda was moving at a high speed of about 120km/h, as an Uber driver, also exceeding the limit at roughly 100km/h, attempted to pass the couple's vehicle. The Skoda, unable to halt quickly enough, veered out of control and collided with the Uber, which subsequently struck the couple's vehicle, resulting in it skidding, spinning, and crashing into the Bandra sea link bridge.
The incident happened at approximately 11:00 PM, and a kind bystander hurried the couple to the hospital. The couple, the man had surgery for injuries to his nose and mouth, along with facial reconstruction, while the woman got stitches for her head injuries and was found to have a broken right rib.
The police reached the location soon after 11:30 PM and filed an FIR at the closest police station. The incident is presently being investigated, and officials are striving to establish the precise reason for the accident.
The Uber driver, who had no passengers with them during the accident, was unharmed. The motorist driving the Skoda, named Eshaan Patel and aged 24, also came away unscathed.
The couple who suffered severe injuries retracted the FIR filed against 24-year-old Eshaan Patel a few days after the incident happened on the Bandra Sea Link on the evening of April 4.
