Mumbai: A significant development has emerged in the Baba Siddique murder case, revealing crucial details about wanted accused Zeeshan Akhtar and Shubham Lonkar, who remain on the run.

According to Mumbai Crime Branch sources, the last known location of Zeeshan and Lonkar in India was traced to Nainital, Uttarakhand. A month before Baba Siddiqui’s murder on October 12, 2024, the accused cut off all contact after making necessary arrangements.

In September 2024, Zeeshan first traveled to Kaithal, then to Jalandhar, returned to Kaithal, and later moved to the Jama Masjid area in Delhi, where he met Shubham Lonkar, who had arrived from Pune.

The two stayed in Delhi for a few days before heading to Nainital. However, after reaching Nainital, their whereabouts remain unknown, with Crime Branch investigators unable to trace any further location data.

The Crime Branch had been tracking Zeeshan via mobile tower signals, but no movement was detected beyond Uttarakhand. Sources indicate that after the murder, Zeeshan allegedly made extortion calls from Jalandhar last month, an investigation now being pursued by the Punjab Police.

A video allegedly featuring Zeeshan Akhtar has surfaced, prompting Crime Branch officials to verify its authenticity. Preliminary observations suggest that the individual in the video resembles Zeeshan Akhtar, but authorities are working to determine whether the footage is genuine or fabricated.

In the video, Zeeshan claims to have fled to Pakistan with the assistance of Pakistani gangster Shehzad Bhatti, while also issuing a warning to Indian investigative agencies.

With these new revelations, the Crime Branch and other security agencies are intensifying efforts to trace the fugitives and confirm Zeeshan’s alleged escape to Pakistan. The case remains under active investigation.
